Day 1 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim Miami 2012

We all know Miami is well-known for its sunny warm beaches and it hot weather, but last week I got to attend the hottest show in Miami, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2012 held at The Raleigh Hotel in South Beach. While there were many fashion weeks going on that same week, I have to admit none could compare to this one. Opening day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was an event not to be missed! This was MBFW Swim’s 7th season which was especially exciting as they showcased the event’s most international roster of designers to date. They welcomed designers from Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Costa Rica, Peru, Spain, and of course the US.

People came dressed in their best Miami fashion to the Raleigh Hotel on South Beach to catch the opening show by DIESEL, and to enjoy the coveted Official Kick Off Party presented by SKYY Vodka. Guests lounged by the pool after the show enjoying refreshing cocktails to try and keep cool in the smoldering Miami heat, not to mention all the hot swimwear that was shown.

Amongst the crowd was Kristin Cavallari from MTV’s The Hills who was there presenting a collaboration between Diesel and SKYY, as well as DJ Jessica Szohr from CWTV’s Gossip Girl, Stacy Ann Fequiere from America’s Next Top Model, Chad Ocho-Cinco NFL football star and last season’s celebrity dancer on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. Guests looked so great that everyone blended in seamlessly to soak in the excitement and celebrate the first day of this fabulous week. Stay tuned!

First to hit the runway of the five day long event opening night was DIESEL in the Grande Cabaña.
Among all the bikinis, monokinis, and one-piece designs showcased, these were some of my favorites:
– Tie-dye reminiscent multicolored with tropical palm trees and helicopters
– Black & white stripes with touch of neon color
– Iridescently shimmered faux-denim
and last but not least
– SKYY Vodka board shorts and speedos for men

The Diesel line featured some unique pieces dedicated to sponsor SKYY Vodka, the final piece worn by Kristin Cavallari who wore a stunning blue monokini embellished with SKYY Vodka’s signature cobalt blue-colored shards of glass. Her outfit was one of the four eye-catching pieces from Diesel and SKYY Vodka’s Capsule swim suit Collection inspired by the vodka’s iconic cobalt blue bottle and logo graphics.

For the finale, the models waved Diesel Island denim flags.

The makeup theme for the show was bronzed skin, sheer lips, bronze smoky eyes using Make up For Ever and hair done by TRESemmé.
